Sometime, the only thing that helps people get over a breakup is the taste of their favorite dish...
Set in real restaurants in Tokyo, the taste of the food gently embraces the women’s souls and kindly heals their broken hearts.
The main character, Miki (Alice Hirose), is a manga artist. She publishes her work, Heartbreak on a Plate, in a free magazine.
Each episode presents the stories of the broken hearts who come to the restaurant, and through the food, we are introduced to their “heartbreak on a plate” experiences.
Sometimes comical, sometimes human, the series portrays people who are trying to move forward even after heartbreak.
Throughout a total of 10 episodes, the relationship between Miki and a man from the flower shop (Kai Inowaki) gradually evolves into something more.

Original story by Maha Harada "Fantastic Girls, Okayama, 1980" (Shodensha). In 1980, Ayuko (Mio Yuki) is a new transfer student in Okayama from Tokyo. She doesn't have any friends. She can only rely on her boyfriend Hideho who is a college student. Ayuko secretly draws a romance manga about herself and her boyfriend Hideho. Ayuko's classmate, Takemi (Rika Adachi), becomes a big fan of Ayuko's manga and they become close friends. Due to an incident, they drift apart.
30 years later, Ayuko (Yuri Shirahane) becomes a manga artist and comes back to Okayama to give a lecture at her former high school. Ayuko happens to meet Takemi (Kei Aran) who becomes a teacher. Both of them had secrets that they couldn't tell each other at that time …
剛從東京轉學到岡山的鮎子都沒有朋友。他的精神支柱就是長得很帥又會彈吉還在念大學的男朋友hideho。鮎子偷偷畫了以他們兩個人為主角的戀愛漫畫。有一天，美女同學武美看到她的漫畫。兩個人藉由漫畫漸漸成為很要好的朋友，但是後來因為某件事情讓他們不歡而散。30年後鮎子變成漫畫家，因為在母校演講所以回到了岡山。鮎子想也沒想到會再見到武美。 相隔30年再次見面的兩人，在當時都有不能說的秘密…
東京から岡山に転校してきたたばかりの佐々岡鮎子（優希美青）はクラスに友達がいなかった。鮎子の心の支えはかっこよくてギターもうまい大学生の彼、ヒデホくん。鮎子は密かに2人を主人公に、恋愛マンガを描いていた。ところがある日、その漫画をクラスでも目立つ、美人の秋本武美（足立梨花）に見られてしまう。漫画を通して次第に仲を深める2人だったが・・・ある事件がきっかけで決定的な仲違いをしたまま別れることに。
30年後。大人になり、漫画家になった鮎子（白羽ゆり）は、母校で講演会をするため岡山へやってきた。鮎子はそこで、思いがけず武美（安蘭けい）と再会する。2人には、あの時どうしても言えなかった秘密があって・・・。全てが明らかになった時、待ち受ける意外な結末が心に染みる。
